So, you're considering working on an American Summer Camp - well be prepared for a life changing experience. Here are my top reasons why working at a summer camp will be the best job you ever have:

1. You get paid to have fun. Salaries range from $800-$3000, and depend on your position, experience and the camp itself, but being paid to have fun is a no brainer. (Obviously you have to do some work too, but this'll be the most fun you ever have at work)

2. Travelling out to America all on your own may seem daunting at first, but you'll soon relish in your new found freedom and independence. As well as the freedom, with your working visa you get to stay in the USA for up to 3 months after camp to travel around and explore more of America.

3. You'll without doubt make life-long friends. Living and working with friends for 3 months will result in the closest relationships you will ever form. With these new friends come new places to visit (many staff members come from all over the world - you could end up 'visiting' a friend in Australia) - one of camps many perks.

4. The kids. They will absolutely make your day, every day. Of course they can be hard work, but it's such rewarding work. As well as being their guardian, the kids will also think you're the coolest person around. It's always nice to be thought of so highly.

5. The experience looks great on your CV. The skills that you gain working at a summer camp are invaluable - leadership, teamwork, communication and organisation, to mention just a few. Not only that, but you'll have experience working with people of all personalities and backgrounds.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, I'd definitely advise looking into it. I, personally, worked on a summer camp in 2013 and can whole-heartedly say it was the best thing I've ever done. There are loads of agencies out there that can get you to your dream camp job in America, however I would recommend Camp Leaders. They specialise in finding the right placement for you, aid you through the process of gaining a visa and sort out your travel all from £399. Their customer service is fantastic, and they helped me every single step of the way.

Good luck, and enjoy!

Darby
