Washing make up brushes is one of those chores that everyone hates to do, but needs to do. Your make up brushes will, overtime, collect a lot of bacteria from both your face and your make up. It is therefore essential that you keep them clean, so to prevent the spread of bacteria. Although it is a time consuming task, and bending over the sink takes its toll on your back, in the end you'll have fresh, clean brushes and your skin will thank you for it.
There are lots of fancy offerings out there for washing your make up brushes. These fancy offerings quite often come with fancy price tags (I'm looking at you MAC - £10 for Brush Cleanser).
For a cheap, quick and easy alternative, I suggest using Johnson's Baby Shampoo. For under £2 you can have fresh and super soft make up brushes. All that you need to do is run each brush under luke warm water, dispense a pea-sized amount of the baby shampoo into your palm, and use the make up brush to work it into a lather. Rinse and repeat if necessary, and ta-da, your brushes will be clean and (once dry) ready to go.
A 300ml bottle of Johnson's Baby Shampoo should last you a few months, but when it is time for a new bottle it is very easy to get hold of as it is stocked in Boots, Superdrug, Wilkinsons and local supermarkets.
Enjoy cleaning!
